{ Spring'12 in Korea } #03

So, on the third day of our trip, we went to Everland, taking bus 5002 from Gangnam Stn [subway line #2, exit #10]. The bus stop is located in a walking distance. Just keep walking straight and cross a small junction. It's pretty obvious which stop is Everland as there'll be a lot of people alighting. Hahaha..


To our greatest dismay, THERE WERE TONS OF KIDS when we arrived at the shutter bus station to Everland. It was Monday... so WHY ARE THERE SO MANY KIDSSS? WAEEE? WAEEEE?














The first ride we took was the pirate ship! Hahaha, everyone were screaming like crazy even tho it's not scary.

Look at the wooden roller coaster at the background! IT'S THE BEST RIDE I'VE EVER SAT!!! AND the only ride that makes me scream from the start all the way to the end. Hahaha..

After all the fun at the theme park, we were both starving like crazyy.. And I've been looking forward to eat at SE7EN's chicken restaurant since the start of this trip! :D Because, well, IT'S CHICKEN!!! Hahahha, and of course, to support the YG artists! ;D We went to the branch at Gangnam! So convenient isn't it? Haha.. So it's a MUST GO if you've just enjoyed your day at Everland and return to Gangnam.

{ Spring'12 in Korea } #02

As mentioned in my previous entry, both my bro and I were dead tired on the first day of our arrival in Seoul. So we returned to our guesthouse by the sunset and slept till night time before heading out for some shopping!


This is a really beautiful restaurant along the street of our guesthouse! :)) But every time we walked past it, we always see the same people sitting at the table. LOL everyday, without fail

I didn't really shop much as the style there are REALLY Korean. Hahha and it's pretty much all spring-y outfit (wools, knitted, etc.) Most of the shops sell the same stuffs :( So I only bought a handful of chiffon blouses and the trench coat as worn above. Oh yeah, and Korean shoe sizes run small. The big foot me has no shoes to shop for :(

After a long night shopping, we decided to go back to the guesthouse... andddd that's when we got cheated by the bloody cab driver of our 50,000 won (SGD$50+?!). OMGGG. So angry even thinking about it now. The ride was less than 10 minutes and the meter clearly showed the fare as 4900 won (just that there's a freaking 0 below the total amount, which we really don't know whats that suppose to mean) and the cab driver insisted that it was 49,000 won. WTF.

When we got back to the guesthouse, we asked the staff and was informed that no matter how far you go, as long as you're in the Seoul town district, your cab fare NEVER exceed 20,000 won. Also, AVOID ALL COLORS OF CAB EXCEPT FOR THE WHITE ONE. WHITE CABS ARE THE SAFEST. Please don't get ripped off like us :( Sighhh.

The following day, we went to the Nonsan Strawberry festival, which is a few hours ride away from Seoul Central City Bus Terminal [subway line #3 to Express bus terminal stn].

The festival field was quite a distance away from the bus terminal at Nonsan.. Bro and I almost got lost but this really kind old uncle lead us the way! The people living in Nonsan seems so much nicer than those at Seoul :/

The weather was so bloody hot at Nonsan tho. But people are still wearing thick jackets there @_@


If you think Strawberry festival is all about strawberries..... then you're WRONNGGGG. Hahhaha.. They throw in all kinds of nonsense stuffs. Even animals. LOL


The main focus of this picture is actually NOT the couple.. but the HUGE dog at the back. LOL. Everyone's so amazed by the size of it!

After we've enough of the strawberry festival, we head back to the bus terminal at Nonsan. And... guess what?!!!!!!!!!!!! WE'VE NO TICKETS BACK TO SEOULLLL. T-T We forgot to buy the return ticket and ended up with nothing because all the tickets were sold out due to the festive period. Omg... I almost cried on the spot. Nonsan town is pretty boring so I'm definitely NOT willing to stay there for a day. Luckily, we managed to grab a later bus ride back to Seoul but we had to wait for like 3 hours there. I'm quite surprised my brother didn't strangle me to death on that day. Hahha...



By the time we reached back in Seoul, it was already night time. So we decided to go some restaurant near our guesthouse for dinner. I wanted to find out where the famous SamChangDong street is, but couldn't manage to find it :( and bro was making a fuss over the long and tiring day... so... we just randomly pick a Japanese Bento restaurant. Well, it turned out to be a right choice because the food is GOOOOD. ^^ The waiters/bosses are very nice too!

{ Spring'12 in Korea } #01

I'm back in home sweet home!!! But the flight from Korea to Singapore was the most horrible ride ever. I puked throughout the flight (and to make matter worse, I've transit flights. Damnit). Even up till now, after a good sleep in my cozy bed, I'm still feeling quite terrible. Hadn't been eating a proper meal for more than 24 hours. :((

Many people told us that a 10 days trip in Seoul is too long, but I'd definitely disagree! There are way too many places to explore and going with different groups of people sure makes a different to the whole trip. Oh, and of course, going on different seasons will also makes a big difference! Spring in Korea is beyond awesome. The temperature is (most of the time) quite chilly (I guess people from tropical countries would love it). Cherry blossoms start to bloom around mid April, making the whole city looks so pretty in pink!

Actually, a whole lots of things happened back in Korea... some of which I'm only telling to my close friends and the rest shall remain as an untold history.


So enough of my conclusion and proceed to part #01 of the trip~ ^^


Bro and I took Cathay Pacific airline to Seoul (transit in Hong Kong) and when we touched down, it was so foggy, we couldn't see anything beyond 10 meters? So scary actually.. Anyway, since I did the itinerary of this trip, my bro pretty much depends on me and that stack of documents in my hand. Hahhah.. we kinda waited in the airport till around 6+ AM (we arrived around 5AM) before heading outside to look for the counter to purchase the airport limousine bus ticket to the city.






 The ticket cost 10,000 won per person and it'll stop at different location (so you've to buy the ticket which has the closest route to your lodging area).



 The bus ride took about an hour and when we looked out of the window, it's still as foggy as ever. Hahha.. seriously can't see a shit behind those trees. Feels like we're in the movie "The Mist" (which has the lamest ending!).

 Look what I found in the magazine on the bus?! Hhahhahaha BIGBANGGGG (and Yoo Ah In on the left page). But wait, I'M NOT THE CRAZY FAN WHO TORE THAT PAGE OUT OKAY. Lol. Someone else did it before I had the chance to. Well, at least TOP's image is still intact. Hahha..

 Both of us were FREEZING when we alighted the bus. Every time a car zoomed past us, both of us stopped in the track and shivered. Hahhahah


And in this freezing morning, we had to drag our noisy luggage along the quiet street and look for our guesthouse. Thanks to the forgetful me, I didn't save the directions which DOO'S Guesthouse provided me. So we ended up walking into Bukchon Hanok Village (which is very very veryyy pretty with all the traditional houses). Bro was nagging non stop at me for being a smartass.. until I decided to search for free WIFI (in the traditional houses!! HAHHAHA) and taaadaaa~ I managed to find the email from Doo's. ^^

After checking into the guesthouse, we wasted no more time to make our way down to Hangang Yeouido Park [ Yeouinaru stn, subway line #5, exit #3 ] for the Cherry Blossoms festival.

Eh, but to our surprise... The festival was postponed because the flowers were not fully bloomed yet. So the park was rather empty except for few tourists like us. Hahaha.. I guess it's a good thing - at least without having to squeeze through the crowd for a good pic! ;D

We then went to Hongdae to get bro's spec fixed. (The guy working there is FREAKING cute tho he looks more like a Japanese than Korean. Hahha.. and it only takes less than 15 minutes to get a specs made?! Wtf. Singapore optical shops needs to adapt to such efficiency!) Since it was a Saturday, I made the plans to go to the Hongdae Flea Market nearby :)) Directions provided here.
















The above picture is the Hongdae Flea market! :D Where all the students set up stalls to sell their handicrafts. Feel like whacking myself because I was too sick to have a proper look at their items :(( Went back to the guesthouse empty handed. Sighhh.

Shall continue the rest in the next entry... My headache is killing me T-T
